Paradise Valley Real Estate: Affluent Community in Northeast Phoenix


Paradise Valley is an exclusive, affluent community located northeast of Phoenix, roughly halfway between the state Capital and the city of Scottsdale. In 2005, the population of Paradise Valley was 14,558, including many top athletes, politicians, musicians, actors, and other stars. Paradise Valley is the wealthiest community in Arizona, based on average monthly income. Despite its small size, covering just over 15 square miles, the city is a premier tourist and resort destination that attracts residents and vacationers from around the world.

Paradise Valley is home to some of the most expensive and luxurious real estate in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The median home price in the area is well over $1 million, with many large properties selling in the multiple-million-dollar range. Paradise Valley is an exclusive and much sought-after address, among the most prestigious in Arizona.

Paradise Valley Demographics

As of the 2000 United States Census, there were 5,034 households, and 4,163 families residing in Paradise Alley. The racial makeup of the town was 95.60% White, 0.73% Black or African American, 0.20% Native American, 2.02% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. 2.66% of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Just over 33.3% of the households had children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.1% were married couples living together, 4.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.3% were non-families. 13.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 2.98.

The age of Paradise Valley residents was spread out, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 18.8% from 25 to 44, 35.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.1 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $150,228, and the median income for a family was $164,811. Males had a median income of $100,000, compared to $52,302 for females. The per capita income for the town was $81,290. About 1.9% of families and 2.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.5% of those under age 18 and 2.8% of those age 65 or over.
